Taking part in the Olympic Games is every athlete's dream.
Winning an Olympic Medal is the privilege of few. In fact, very few.
Lorenzo has stood on that podium. More than once.
His list of achievements includes European Titles, World Records, and the prestigious role of Captain of the Italian National Swimming Team.
To achieve those goals requires passion, dedication, countless days and hours of training, sacrifices that smack of chlorine and loneliness, renunciations.
A complex journey that has always reinforced the myth that study and elite sport are sworn enemies.
Two polar opposites that repel each other.
Lorenzo, however, successfully managed to bring those polar opposites closer together, combining professional swimming with study, sporting career with academic career.
While he opened the water with his strokes, he also opened books.
While his opponents chased him, he pursued a degree and the call of painting.
A passion for art that he has cultivated alongside training, competitions, and a life in symbiosis with water.
Today he has decided to tell young athletes that all this "can be done".
To do so, he has chosen to create (together with Matteo, a lifelong friend and poolmate, who, despite their different courses of study, has shared with him the journey) a podcast about Dual Careers, about how the two worlds can coexist, and about the role of schools, sports clubs, and institutions.
He welcomed us into the studio where he records, hosting testimonials and experiences from internationally renowned athletes. In that studio studio words and thoughts flow quickly and lightly, like swimmers who don't ruffle the blue surface of the water. Like sprinters who hurtle in a race that almost seems to never touch the ground.
And right there, in front of his microphone, Lorenzo told us about his project : how it was born, how it grew, and about the importance it will have for future generations of athletes.
Young athletes who, like him, will resolutely pursue their dreams ... in a pool, on a track, or in a gym, confident that, on the path that will lead them to their goal, body and mind can be forged together.
